Dance Cork Firkin Crane's regular professional class on Sept 4th will be led by Alex Allison.
Alex Allison came into contact with juggling 15 years ago while studying Celtic Studies at the University of Galway, and the world of circus, movement and performance has fascinated him ever since. In this introductory class to juggling, Alex will share with us the fundamentals of the language with which he expresses himself using movement and simplistic object manipulation. While juggling may follow strict, almost mathematical rules and patterns, Alex helps us look for the fragile and chaotic moments within it, and there is no juggling experience necessary, only the desire to pick it up and try again.
Following the professional class, we will take a deep dive with Alex into the techniques and methodology he has developed and honed over the last 15 years.
The lab is part of UpDown Circus Festival artform development strand, and investigates the movement of our bodies and the spatial relationship in rhythmic time with an object and gravity.
