October 19 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel: Join us for the second presentation in the Judy Otto Distinguished Speaker Series, featuring our own Dr. Marilyn Bull Bruins!
Marilyn Bull and her husband, Dr. Scott Bruins, have been active participants at Meridian Street United Methodist Church since 1977. Marilyn’s family and professional life have been closely intertwined, and she is pleased to share the challenges, joys, and many rewarding experiences of her lifetime.
Marilyn was raised on an apple/cherry farm in western Michigan, is a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Michigan Medical School, and trained in pediatrics, genetics, child development, and neurodevelopmental disabilities. She is currently the Morris Green Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at Riley Hospital for Children, where she serves as the Director of the Down Syndrome Program and co-medical director of the Automotive Safety for Children Program at Indiana University.
Dr. Bull’s career has evolved through following what seemed to be right for children, which has led to teaching in nearly every state in the USA and in 19 countries around the world. Many tumultuous and challenging experiences were surmounted along the way that seem to deepen the purpose and meaning of life and how it is lived.
The joys of family and friends, recognition in strange places, and surprising events have provided a colorful background for Dr. Marilyn Bull: wife and mother, pediatrician, advocate, researcher, and educator.
