About this Event
Judy Bridges, author of Shut Up & Write! and Carol Wobig, author of Poached is Not an Option, and Collected Works, invite you to join their ‘Reading and Chat’ about Judy’s new memoir, I. 84 years in the making, Bridges’ memoir covers 60 homes, 18 schools, and 3 husbands. Dad is a hero and a heartbreaker. Gram shoots her favorite husband in the pocket. Bridges puts it all on the table, bringing characters to life in this wildly honest memoir.
She is the author of the well-loved writers’ guide, Shut Up & Write! and the Founder of Redbird Studio, where she spent more than two decades helping others find the words they want to say.
Christina Clancy, author of , , and says,
“Like the best memoirists, Judy Bridges writes with such candor, humor and clarity that I felt like I was going through life with her instead of reading about it.”
PLEASE ARRIVE FRAGRANCE-FREE. JUDY IS ALLERGIC! THANK YOU!
Judy Bridges was years into a career writing speeches and marketing programs when she realized she really loves to teach and founded Redbird Studio. She spent the next 25 years helping people find the words they want to say. The first lines of many books and shorter works were written and polished in workshops she led in the studio, on woodland trails, in cemeteries, on trains and city bus-es. When an elementary school principal asked her to work with his students, she said, "I don't do kids." That turned into school year and summer programs for youth of all ages and backgrounds. When teaching, Judy looks in each person for the thing they love, the thing they can build on. No writing is insignificant. The obituary is as important as the novel. When she wrote Shut Up & Write! readers said it was as much about life as about writing.
