About this Event

Juano Diaz’s compelling storytelling has captured the hearts of readers. He will be interviewed by Paul English, a renowned writer, journalist, and broadcaster.

Diaz will discuss his deeply personal journey of writing ‘Slum Boy’ and the experiences that have shaped his artistic and literary voice. This conversation promises to explore pain, perseverance, and the transformative power of storytelling.

This dialogue is part of the National Theatre of Scotland's Caring Scotland project, a three-year oral history initiative in partnership with Who Cares? Scotland and the National Library of Scotland, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Lottery Fund.

This event is part of Care Experienced Week, 19 to 26 October 2024.


About the speakers

Juano Diaz is an internationally acclaimed artist and collaborates with many others including Pierre et Giles and Grace Jones. His work has been exhibited in galleries across the world including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. 'Slum Boy' is his debut memoir.

Paul English is a journalist and broadcaster. He has covered arts and culture in Scotland and beyond for 25 years.
