Each year, I have taken great pleasure in seeking out some of our community's most impactful organizations as beneficiaries. This year, I have chosen the (TLC) as my annual Pride Party beneficiary. This national organization advocates for the rights of transgender and gender non-conforming people.
TLC was originally California's first state-wide transgender legal organization and has a long history of victories for the trans movement. Over the years, it has helped win trans workers' rights nationwide, protected trans students, and revised the San Francisco "."
When I heard about the great work the Transgender Law Center was doing, especially its direct legal expertise, strategies to keep transgender and gender-nonconforming people alive and thriving, and the committed fight for liberation, I knew that I had to support them. So, in 2009, I named TLC my annual Pride party beneficiary.
The current state of the US government regarding transgender individuals is distressing. The growing movement against transgender rights nationwide made me choose the Transgender Law Center as this year's beneficiary. Now, more than ever, our transgender and gender-diverse families need our allyship and support. Advocating for those most vulnerable to recent legal restrictions must be a priority, as members of the transgender community are currently experiencing multiple barriers to success at an alarming rate.
I want to make sure our trans family has a place to exist publicly and receive the healthcare, education, and legal recognition they need to thrive in our world.

Founded in 2002, Transgender Law Center (TLC) has grown into the largest trans-specific, trans-led organization in the United States working to set all people free. We champion the right of all transgender and gender-nonconforming people to make their own choices and live freely, safely, and authentically. Prioritizing BIPOC, disabled, and HIV+ communities, we advance community-driven strategies that harness trans knowledge, power, and joy to ensure that we all not only survive but thrive at all ages and phases of life.
