This session provides an introduction to working with primary sources through the online collection Independent Voices; a collection of alternative press newspapers, magazines and journals produced by feminists, dissident GIs, campus radicals, Native Americans, anti-war activists, Black Power advocates, Hispanics, LGBT activists, the extreme right-wing press.

The session will focus on distinguish primary from secondary sources for a given research question. Using efficient and effective search strategies in order to locate primary sources.
