Bach's complete organ works are presented as a series of 30 stand-alone free recitals performed by Robert Patterson. This is the 29th.
About this Event

The organ works of J.S. Bach (1695-1750) stand as one of the cornerstones of Western Classical repertoire, and firmly remain the most important music ever written for the organ. This eclectic mix of music can be divided into either chorale-based compositions or ‘free’ works. The chorale-based compositions, steeped in Bach’s German religious heritage, present assorted Lutheran chorales in many diverse forms. The free works are in various structures, including Preludes, Fugues, Toccatas, Trio Sonatas and Concertos. A specific chronology is not known, but it is likely that most of the works are from the early (pre-1717) or late (post-1737) parts of Bach’s composing life. He extensively revised some of his earlier works towards the end of his life.

The music is presented here as a series of 30 stand-alone recitals, very loosely connected by chorale to the church calendar. Please feel free to wander around the church during the recital to admire this truly beautiful grade 1 listed church, completed a mere 27 years after the death of Bach.
