The Jr BioFUNdamentals Series are designed for students 7-13 years old to introduce them to Biology as Technology.
About this Event

Are you tired of asking your kids to wash their hands properly every time they come home? This flu and cold season, stop the nagging and let science do the talking. We’re inviting students to step into the shoes of a scientist to answer a high-stakes question: Is your hand-washing technique actually effective, or are the microbes winning?

🥼 Step in the shoes of a scientist, a microbiologist to be precise, and inside a real laboratory

This isn't just a classroom, it's a real lab designed with young scientists safety in mind! Your student will learn to "gear up" and master the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate for their experiment. Through a Safety Scavenger Hunt, they’ll navigate the lab environment, learning that safety is the foundation of every great discovery.

🧫 The Controlled Experiment: "The Unwashed Hands" vs. "Washed Hands"

Using real agar petri dishes for culturing microbes, students will, form a hypothesis and conduct a formal experiment to visualize the "invisible world" living on their hands.

  • The Hypothesis: Does a proper hands washing technique eliminate most microbes from your hands?
  • The Test: Students will deposit bacteria from their unwashed hands on a petri dish and then repeat the process after they wash their hands with proper washing technique then place the petri dishes in an incubator.
  • The Reveal: After 1-3 days of incubation, we’ll send you digital photos of their microbial "pets." Seeing the visual evidence is a "lightbulb moment" that changes hygiene habits forever.

🧤 The Dirty Glove Challenge

In the lab, what you can’t see can still hurt you. We’ll coat students’ gloves in a special, safe paint to simulate a threat. The challenge? Successfully remove the gloves without getting a single smudge on their skin. It’s a game of precision and technique that teaches them how to truly protect themselves in any situation requiring the use of gloves.

🔬 Small Group Training

Limited Enrollment: 6 Students Only! This allows for deep discussions, personalized attention, and a safe, authentic lab environment where every young scientist can thrive.

The Jr. BioFUNdamentals Series:

Give Your Child the Keys to the Lab!

Is your child a budding scientist? Jr. BioFUNdamentals (Ages 7–13) takes them beyond the classroom and into the world of Biology as Technology!

The Experience:

  • Real Tools: Use professional gear like micropipettes, gel electrophoresis, and microscopes.
  • Real Science: Extract DNA, cultivate microorganisms to create "Agar Art", and use electricity to separate molecules
  • Real Fun: Complex concepts become unforgettable hands-on experiments.

The BioFUN Advantage: Our flexible, modular curriculum allows you to learn at your own pace. With our digital skill-tracker, students watch their expertise grow in real-time. These aren't just hobbies—they are the building blocks for our 13+ advanced program, offering 55 verifiable skills that make resumes stand out from the crowd!
