About this Event
There was a time in the not-too-distant past when almost every scale and weighing machine in shops, factories and jute mills In Dundee and its surrounding towns carried the proud badge of Joseph Percival Shuttleworth. But who was he, and why did he relocate from Birmingham to Dundee in 1891? What does the story of this small businessman have to tell us about the changing nature of commerce and industry at the end of the nineteenth and into the middle of the twentieth centuries? This family story will shed light on an industry that has now gone but which was once one of the mainstays of Dundee business.
