This special event is one of our most intimate offerings of the year. First, it takes place in the city Thea calls home. If you know her, she is a proud Los Angelena and a fierce advocate for the natural beauty and layered possibilities and challenges the city holds. Los Angeles is a deep part of her roots, and that energy will be felt through this offering.
Second, it is being hosted on the land of dear friends and family, the stewards of Greenstone Farm & Sanctuary. Within the shelter of these elder trees and sovereign soil, we will discover and reimagine what it means to be (Black), Wild, & Loved.
In this context, (Black) definitely and primarily refers to Black bodies, but it also includes forms of othering that can make one question if the society one belongs to can/will ever love us in our wildest, (Black)est state.
Rooted in joy practice and supported by grief tending, Joy Emersion LA is a day of nourishment, intimacy, and bold questioning is sure to change us all towards more authentic forms of living, loving, and being loved.
The agenda includes nourishing meals and refreshments, as well as a series of spacious opportunities of intimate engagement, reflection, connection, and release. There will be time for connecting with yourself, and time for connecting with others. The day will be full of takeaways, memories, and most of all, a sustainable joy starter set for anyone who desires to create a life where joy is their metric.
