The chakras are vortices of energy that receive and distribute life force energy (prana) throughout the body. When the prana flows in and out of the chakras in a balanced state, we function at our most optimal. However, the chakras are often in an imbalanced state, which influences our physiological, psychological, or emotional well-being. The practice of yoga affects the flow of prana in the body and in turn, the state of the chakras. In this class series, we will explore yogic practices that balance the chakras, focusing on a different chakra each week. Classes incorporate asana, pranayama, mudra and mantra that can be modified to meet all levels, from the beginner to the seasoned yoga practitioner. Each class culminates with a relaxation and harmonium sound bath. The class schedule is as follows:
• Feb. 6 – Muladhara (Root Chakra)
• Feb. 13 – Svadisthana (Sacral Chakra)
• Feb. 20 – Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra)
• Feb. 27 – Anahata (Heart Chakra)
• Mar. 6 – Vishuddha (Throat Chakra)
• Mar. 13 – Ajna (Third Eye Chakra) & Sahashara (Crown Chakra)
Drop-ins welcome for all classes, or sign up for the entire series and experience the complete Journey Through the Chakras.
Cost: $30/class; $150 for all 6 classes
