About this Event
Journal to the Self: Take a Deep Dive into Your Journaling Practice

Breathe new life into your journaling practice! Learn 18 new techniques to add color, perspective, and dimension to your writing. Deepen your perspective, inspire your life.

[Note: Now in Riverside. Held outdoors in the ”Magic Writing Tent” at 1610 Osceola Street, for safety reasons.]

If you are like most people with a journal practice, you love journaling and likely have been doing so for years. You also probably have been using the same style and techniques for years. However, adding different tools to your journal writing adds color, perspective, and dimension. That can lead to increased personal growth, creative expression, and life enhancement. In this Journal to the Self 6-week series, designed and developed by Kay Adams and based on her book of the same name, you will learn 18 different techniques, including: Alphapoems, Captured Moments, Character Sketch, Clustering, Dialogue, and more.

Facilitated by faculty member Marilyn Jones, a certified instructor for Journal to the Self (JTTS) as well as for Women Writing for (a) Change. During this six-week series, she will lead you through all these techniques using the companion workbook for JTTS. Join Marilyn for this fun and exciting workshop and see what happens as you breathe new life into your journaling practice!

Note: Open to anyone who identifies as a woman. Class size limited for safety protocols. Register early to reserve a spot.

Marilyn Jones, a retired therapist with a 40-year career in human services, is a certified facilitator for Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonville. A firm believer that each individual carries deep reservoirs of wisdom within, she combines this belief with the proven practices of Women Writing for (a) Change to help participants uncover hidden truths, share their stories, and explore how to make the most of whatever stage of life they are in.

MORE DETAILS

Women Writing for (a) Change® was founded in 1991 by Mary Pierce Brosmer, a practicing poet and former English teacher. She developed WWf(a)C to encourage women to find their voices, speak their truths, and tell their stories in a world in which they were often silenced. (womenwriting.org).

The Jacksonville-affiliated school was established in 2014 by Jennifer Wolfe, evolving into a non-profit in 2018, and adding three new faculty members in 2019-2020. Our intention is to expand our outreach and accessibility to a larger, more diverse audience.
