José André Montaño is a self-taught musician who delights listeners across the Americas. His compositional versatility embraces Jazz, Rock, Blues, Bossa Nova, Latin American Folklore, and World music.
José André is a musical prodigy who believes that 'Life is a gift.' He discovered his piano skills at the age of four and has since developed into a musician who infuses his music with Latin rhythms and jazz harmonies. He's performed on stages around the world, from his native Bolivia to Malaysia and across Europe. His talent has also graced prestigious stages such as the DC Jazz Festival, Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival, and International Jazz Day, where he's shared the stage with renowned musicians like Marcus Miller, Jason Moran, and Renée Fleming.
In 2019, José André performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as an emerging artist and recipient of VSA International Young Soloist Award for, given to outstanding young musicians with disabilities from around the world.
At the 2nd Annual Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind 'Lighting the Way' Gala, José André was honored with the Visionary Award, recognizing his remarkable achievements as a person with vision loss.
Despite his accomplishments, for José André, the adventure of creating music has only just begun.

Over 20 years after opening, Little Havana has become a landmark in South Baltimore, serving brunch, lunch and dinner 7 days a week year-round. Little Havana continues to be an important part of the fabric of Federal Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods and welcomes The Sonic Lifeline Jazz Series to the Hemingway Room.
