A jazz saxophonist with a gift for melody, Josh is known for his lyrical improvising style and attractive compositions. Whether its bluesy standards rooted in the tradition or original pieces in a contemporary style, expect high-energy swing with an enjoyable and relaxed groove from a top-level ensemble. A household musician here at Hot Numbers which is always a pleasure to welcome him back to the lates here at Gwydir. Tonight he will be with Leon Greening, a fluent and meodic jazz musician who is in the vanguard of the British Jazz scene.
Expect hard-swinging bebop with a healthy dose of the blues mixed in, with influences from Hank Mobley, Sonny Rollins, Wynton Kelly and Bud Powell. Expect carefully crafted solos referencing the history of jazz music, from up tempo fireworks to tender ballads, classics and lesser-known works from a golden era of jazz.
