Alt-country troubadour Josh Deeble penned the seven songs that make up his upcoming EP - Tomorrow while living in a remote village in Northern Italy. Chasing a simpler life away from the familiar, Josh relocated to Europe in early 2024 without a guitar or intention of writing. Somehow songs always end up finding him. Sitting on his balcony watching the snow melt on the peaks of the Italian Alps, he felt compelled to create something, nature's splendour demanded it. So he found a little parlour guitar in a nearby village and sat on his balcony writing one song after another, flowing like never before in his 15+ years of songwriting.
Josh moved back to Australia in 2025 and with a suitcase full of songs went straight into Ragtag Studios with Mik McCartin. Josh roped in Ben Conicella on double bass, Joe Cryle (Mexico City) on pedal steel and fellow songsmith Zac Gunthorpe on harmonica/backing vocals. Studio owner Mik McCartin took percussion/production duties while Mik’s wife singer-songwriter Kim McCartin lent her sweet harmonies.
Over just 4 days in July, 2025 they made an EP that captures the essence of Josh Deeble’s nostalgic song craft, meandering from hypnotic heartbreakers to tipsy folk ballads.
Come out and celebrate the release of Tomorrow with Americana hero’s Mexico City & These Idle Hands at Brisbane’s newest venue Mirrorball Ministries on Saturday December 6th from 7pm.
