About this Event
Join us for an exciting evening celebrating the work of Josef Kardell at The Royal Blue! This solo exhibition showcases Josef’s dynamic geometric abstract paintings, a body of work shaped by years of artistic exploration and a deeply personal creative journey. The opening reception coincides with Baltimore’s Second Friday Art Walk, making it the perfect opportunity to experience local art, meet the artist, and enjoy an evening of culture and connection.
About the Artist:
Growing up in a creative family on Nantucket Island, Josef Kardell was immersed in music, art, and film from an early age. His artistic path led him from composing symphonic music and playing in bands to studying Music Composition and Computer Music at Peabody Institute in Baltimore. It was there that he first began painting, a passion that flourished into a daily practice during the pandemic. Since then, Josef has sold over 300 paintings and exhibited his work in numerous solo and group shows across Maryland and beyond.
Artist Statement:
Josef’s work is a direct response to the visceral act of painting itself. His geometric abstract pieces are a form of expression that transcends language—vivid, textured, and deeply engaging. What began as a personal therapeutic practice has evolved into an artistic mission: to create and share as much work as possible. Every canvas tells a story of movement, emotion, and connection, inviting viewers to find their own meaning within the forms and colors.
