"External space forms internal space. During AIR Slipvillan, my environment changes from Vlissingen (NL), where I live and work, to Långholmen (SE). From an island with mainly agriculture to an island in a metropolis. From an island consisting of polders to an island consisting of rock. AIR Slipvillan gives me the opportunity from May 13-26, 2024 to explore what changes this particular external space brings about in the internal space. By being present in the environment with attention, I collect impressions and materials. Unlike concentration, attention covers a wide area and does not exclude it. It is not narrow and goal-oriented but broad and possibility-oriented.
While working in the studio, I feel through what the environment evokes. These can be questions like: what does it mean to be part of an archipelago, as a place and as a human being? How does it feel under the bridge? What materials and processes are specific to this place? What is discarded here, what washes up here?
Internal space forms external space, and expresses itself in images composed of found materials, drawings and texts. They from an in-between the external and internal space."
