GUEST STAR IMELDA MAY - BIOGRAPHY:
Born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, Imelda May has become one of the UK & Ireland’s most celebrated female artists. Her self-written & produced album "Love Tattoo" is the best-selling album of all time by a homegrown female artist in Ireland and her most recent album “11 Past the Hour” released in April 2021 marks her fourth Number 1 album in Ireland and fourth Top 10 in the UK. Imelda’s recent albums are a departure from her early rockabilly revival style with a sound that sits firmly outside of any sharply defined genre box, widely spanning blues, rock, soul, gospel, and jazz.
Imelda was discovered by Jools Holland, who asked her to support him on tour, and has gone on to perform alongside legendary artists including Lou Reed, Bono, Tom Jones, Noel Gallagher, Elvis Costello, Jeff Beck, Robert Plant, Van Morrison, Rod Stewart, Jack Savoretti, Jeff Goldblum and Ronnie Wood. She has performed all over the world in front of royalty and politicians, including Barack Obama ... From the 52nd Grammy Awards with Jeff Beck, to singing the Irish national anthem in Las Vegas ahead of the Floyd Mayweather/Conor McGregor fight in 2017 with a reported TV audience of 1 billion people across 200 countries.
This year, Imelda will reprise her role performing in Peter Sheridan's one woman play titled 'Mother Of All The Behans' at 3Olympia Theatre, Dublin and The Everyman, Cork with more dates to follow. Based on the book by Brian Behan, Imelda will portray the formidable Kathleen Behan and includes a soundtrack performed by herself.
In 2023 Imelda May concluded her inspired Made To Love Tour, having performed her biggest ever tour of the U.K. and sold out 3 nights at Dublin’s Vicar Street. The prior year, she took the tour across France before returning to her beloved Ireland. Imelda also played a number of live summer dates including headlining Iveagh Gardens and Kilkenny Festival before she closed the Cambridge Folk Festival in the UK.
In 2022 Imelda presented the Sky TV series, 'Voices of Ireland’ which won the Best Specialist Factual Award at the RTS Ireland Television Awards. Later in 2022, Imelda curated, directed and starred in a Christmas Special titled ‘Imelda & Friends’ broadcast on Sky TV. She has co-hosted BBC’s Later with Jools Holland, and presented her own series “The Imelda May Show” for RTE Ireland in 2018. In 2023, Imelda was enlisted to write the theme tune for BBC's radio drama 'Gaslight’. On International Women’s Day this year, she has released her follow up project with Sky TV curating and filming her recent documentary series studying the lives of the renowned Yeats sisters, Lily and Lolly. Imelda was the executive producer and presenter for the entire series.
In recent years Imelda has turned her talent to the silver screen, appearing in her first major film role alongside James Purefoy and Maggie Steed in ‘Fisherman’s Friends: One and All’, the sequel to the 2019 hit comedy Fisherman's Friends. The film entered the top 5 box office best sellers after its release in 2022. With more film roles on the horizon, including a major blockbuster starring alongside Pierce Brosnan, we’re sure to see much more of Imelda on the screen in years to come.
Not only has Imelda sold millions of records worldwide and forged a successful career on screen, she is also an acclaimed women’s rights activist and accomplished poet. Her poem ‘You Don’t Get To Be Irish & Racist’ evoked an incredible response of over 5 million views on social media. The poem was used by the IRE government ReThink Ireland campaign for billboards throughout the country and has since been included in the curriculum. In 2021 she released her debut poetry book ‘A Lick & A Promise’ which instantly debuted at No.8 in the Irish Times Bestsellers Chart (Hardback Non Fiction). The Paperback & Audiobook was released in March 2022.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR LIVE MUSIC SHOWS
Please be aware that we are a theatre, not a nightclub, and our audiences are predominantly seated. However, many live acts will encourage the audience to participate with singing, dancing and standing. We have to balance this with those that cannot or prefer not to stand and all seats from Row K forwards are only for those wishing to remain in their seats. You will need to move to an aisle behind row K to stand or dance if you book a seat forward of this row. All seating to the rear of this row permits standing/dancing (in both seated areas and the aisles), in most circumstances, for live music shows.
Please be aware: if you book seats in the area behind Row K and do not stand, your view may be obscured by those who wish to do so. These areas are clearly marked when you book your tickets.
However, standing at your seat at any show is not a right. We ask audience members to be kind and considerate to those around them at all times, and to follow the instructions of our ushers and security staff. Anyone who refuses to do as we ask, or is rude or obviously intoxicated, will be asked to leave the theatre. No alcohol, drinks or food may be brought into our building; bags may be searched and such items removed and disposed of.
We hope you understand that these rules are to protect your enjoyment of our show, and that of the whole audience, and that you thoroughly enjoy your visit to The Spa.
