This public Chanukah event at Cascades Park is part of Chabad’s ongoing Jewish community outreach, designed to make traditional practices such as the Chanukah holiday more exciting, stimulating, and meaningful. Chabad Lubavitch will attempt to kindle the spark of Yiddishkeit (Jewishness) within each Jew with their bold public displays of Jewish pride. These ceremonies are designed to promote two things: Get Jewish people to do mitzvahs (commandments and good deeds) and make Judaism fun. This is all done with Chabad’s outreach philosophy in mind – to motivate people to express their Jewish souls.
