Free Event !We're thrilled to invite you to the official launch of our long-awaited concept album, **Arrivals & Departures**! With Special Guests performances from Fran Liddle & The Medicine man & Katherine Vavahea & friends. This project has been a labor of love, taking several years to complete, with much of it recorded remotely during and after the challenges of Covid-19.
**A Glimpse into the Journey:**
? **Captain Bluetongue** (our main songwriter and lead vocalist) began the recording process with heartfelt acoustic guitar and vocals. These tracks then traveled to **George**, who enriched them with guitars, bass lines, backing vocals, and even the exotic sounds of the Da Ruan, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument.
? The journey continued with **Hutch** laying down the drums, adding the perfect rhythm to our tracks. **Kat** then added her incredible backing vocals, embellishing the songs beautifully.
? The mixing was entrusted to two legends of the Australian recording scene: **Phil Punch** and **Ted Howard**, who each brought their unique touch to half of the album.
? The album features two versions of the title track, serving as bookends: **"Arrivals & Departures (Arrivals)"** and **"Arrivals & Departures (Departures)"**. The latter track, initially shown to Phil Punch as a demo, impressed him so much in its rough form that he insisted on mixing it that way. Thus, the concept album idea was born.
? The final recording was a live acoustic session of the opening track **"Arrivals & Departures (Arrivals)"** at **Marcus Holden’s studio**, capturing the essence of this song. This session featured:
- **Live vocals** from Cap, Katherine, and George
- **Si Costello** on Double Bass
- **Carlyn Chen** on Violin
- **Paul Blassi** on Dobro
- **Drums** by Andrew Hutchings
- **Acoustic Guitar** by George Rigatos
- **Mandolin** by Marcus Holden
This event is not just a launch, but a celebration of our musical family, **The Marvellous Hearts**, and the incredible journey we've shared.
