About this Event
Join us for a rewarding day of woodland creation at Mellor Wood, Huddersfield. You’ll help plant native trees that will provide habitats for wildlife, protect our rivers, and create beautiful spaces for people to enjoy. No experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and a love for nature!
This event supports the White Rose Forest’s mission to expand and enhance woodlands across North and West Yorkshire. Healthy woodlands are vital for biodiversity, clean air and water, and resilient landscapes. Your efforts will help ensure these woodlands thrive for generations to come.

✔️ What to Bring:
- Sturdy waterproof boots (wellies or walking boots recommended)
- Weather-appropriate clothing (layers, waterproofs)
- Gardening gloves (if you have them – we’ll have spares)
- Packed lunch and water bottle
- Enthusiasm and a love for nature!
🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing:
- Planting native tree species suited to the site
- Learning how to use tools like tree spears and lump hammers
- Helping create a woodland that will benefit wildlife and people

The site includes uneven terrain and may be muddy. Unfortunately, it is not currently wheelchair accessible. Please wear sturdy footwear and dress for outdoor work. If you have any accessibility needs or questions, contact us in advance so we can support your participation wherever possible.
