Public meeting organised by Leicester & District TUC on how working class people are fighting back against attacks on our rightsAbout this Event
Leicester & District Trades Union Council is delighted to welcome Your party MP, Zarah Sultana, to our public meeting, addressing the international resistance against the capitalist offensive around our rights to protest, to organise and to resist.
Workers everywhere are fighting back, especially in Minneapolis where there has been huge community resistance against Donald Trump's state terrorist immigration police force.
In Britain, the courts have been arresting thousands of protesters for daring to show solidarity with Palestine, including incarcerating activists who have been held without trial for over a year! Determined and noisy protests have forced the government to stop giving contracts to arms firm Elbit, which has been delivering arms to Israel.
In Leicester, Ash Field Academy has suspended union rep, Tom Barker, for organising industrial action against compulsory redundancies. In a consultative ballot, union members have voted to strike if he is not reinstated.
Yet far right protesters have been marching through London without impunity, demanding punitive action against migrants. The resistance against the threat of the far right is growing and we will be marching on 28th March in London to show collective solidarity.
Come to our meeting to discuss how working class people are fighting back against attacks on our rights.
