FORMAL LAUNCHING AND MEETING OF MINDS
June 28, 2022, Tuesday
5:00pm - 9:00pm
Jade Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Hotel,
Ortigas Center, Quezon City
Philippines

FPPI - Fashion Photographers of the Philippines, Incorporated (FPPI) / Fashion Photography PH is an informal loose association of fashion photographers in the Philippines and Filipino based abroad. It aims to bridge and uplift the process of development of textile, craft and fashion as a form of art and science.

Established during the Covid-19 pandemic in year 2021, it was formally launched last June 28, 2022 (Tuesday), from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at Jade Ballroom, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Quezon City.

This June 28, 2024 is the second year of the establishment of FPPI.

One of the reasons of its creation is to help fellow photographers survive the onslaught of virus that affected the economic and health conditions of fashion photography.

For the previous two years, events halted, that greatly affected the financial circumstances of photographers that rely and count on their profession on events, weddings, debuts, and other important personal occasions.

We had seen the rise and influence of Tiktok and other social media platforms in our daily lives as source of entertainment.

Prohibition of big gatherings prevented the steadiness in supremacy of events photography and videography due to lack of face to face activities.

Photography and videography had declined for the past two years during the Covid-19 pandemic. Weddings, debuts, events, bookings were cancelled. Travel and tourism businesses closed. Thousands of jobs and incomes vanished.
For image documentors, the future may seems dark but hopeful, there is still light at the end of the tunnel.

Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, fashion and pageants proliferated not only in Metro Manila but also in other major cities and provinces linked closely to Filipino values and traditions of Christianity. Traditional and online media outfits are dependent on art and visual businesses in photography and prolific dresses.

FPPI - Fashion Photography PH founding members are from various photography and videography clubs and individuals, supported by various photographers from Quezon City Photo Club (QCPC).

FPPI - Fashion Photography PH brings talented artisans (designers, tailors, seamstress, dressmakers, textile sellers) together in order to breach the gap between selling sustainable products and empowering the traditional communities who are responsible for bringing these breathtaking creations and designs to life.

In addition, with our objectives is to gradually pave the path to economic independence for the artisans and fashion designers we work with.

By using a fresh combination of colors, patterns, threads, and traditional symbols, our group of talented makers create truly unique items. We are proud to provide them with an outlet for their skills and help them support their families and communities.

In partnership with various stakeholders from the fashion industry we had successfully completed the photo and video documentation of fashion shows in the Philippines with a big bang in Philippine Fashion Industry.
Another milestone is the metamorphosis, from caterpillar to butterfly transformation of ten fashion designers from Kamuning Group of Fashion Designers last June 9, 2022, supported by more than 120 aspiring and professional models.

Like a phoenix, from the ashes rises the new players in fashion, garments and textiles, the Kamuning Market with an ongoing construction of a state of the art facilities costs P173 million infrastructure allocated by the Office of the Mayor Joy Belmonte for the dressmakers and tailors of Kamuning Market and visioning it as the new tourist spot in Quezon City.

Kamuning - which got its name from Orange Jasmine which is abundant in the place in the early 1940s, is the latest addition of our laurels. Ten new faces were unfolded, even if unheard in the fashion scene, yet their works is an embodiment of an artisan's skills passed from generations of textile and fabric sellers; and tailors and dressmakers housed in the labyrinth market and streets of Kamuning.

As intrepid as the speed of light from the flash of camera, Fashion Photographers of the Philippines, Incorporated (FPPI) / Fashion Photography PH valiantly established and positioned itself inward in Philippine Fashion industry.

We only need to support each other, and with the guidance of the veterans in the fashion industry, we have to listen to their advices and re-examine into ourselves if our journey is still on the right path.
