Ready to start your derby journey with Rose City Rollers?!In this series, you will attend four 2-hour practices (once per week) where you will learn basic skating skills with a roller derby flair. Rental skates and gear are available via our Rent N Roll gear-lending library at no extra cost! At the end of the series, you can continue your roller derby journey by joining Rose City Rollers as a member!
When: Saturdays, 8 to 10 am (1/3, 1/10, 1/17, 1/24)
Where: The Hangar at Oaks Park
How much: $150 (Rental skates and gear included!)

This program for skaters who are:
🛼 18+ years old
🛼 Able to stand on skates unassisted
🛼 Get up from a fall without help
🛼 Skaters who identify with the WFTDA Statement on Gender: https://resources.wftda.org/membership/diversity-and-inclusion/wftda-statement-about-gender/
The skills covered include standing and falling, stopping, and crossovers. More advanced skaters will learn backwards skating, lateral movement, and transitions (changing from forwards to backwards skating while rolling). While these are basic skating skills, they are taught through a roller derby lens and layered with light pack drills.

What you’ll need:
🛼 Skates, Pads, Helmet – Don’t have your own? We got you! Our Gear-Lending Library, Rent N Roll, has you covered and loaners are included in your reservation for the program – just make sure to fill out your gear section of the registration.
🛼 Mouthguard – Sisu is our preferred brand because it can be remolded, We offer them for $20. We also have a non-moldable kind for $5. *SISU mouthguards will need to be picked up before the series starts, more info to come.
🛼 Water bottle – hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
🛼 Snacks – bring a small snack that will help give you energy. Protein bars are great.
