Come and join us for our fourth guided CyanLines walk exploring the River Irk and some of Manchester's newest green spaces.About this Event
On Sunday June 28th, we’ll embark on our next CyanLines walk down the nature-rich River Irk.
Led by tour leader Jonathan Schofield, the walk will start in Queens Park in Harpurhey, 2.5 miles north of Manchester city centre (the Queens Road Metrolink stop is just a few minutes' walk from the park entrance), one of the oldest public parks in the UK. From here, we’ll meander down the River Irk’s north bank a couple of miles, taking in 'Lowry’s steps’ until we reach the newly regenerated St Catherines Wood. You'll get a sneak preview of this important green space to the emerging Victoria North neighbourhood before it opens to the public later this summer.
Historic Angel Meadows and Angel Square’s perennial gardens will then drop us into the thriving new neighbourhood of NOMA and a flourishing city gardening project. On our final leg of the walk, we’ll pass through Manchester Cathedral's Gardens and the poignant memorial to the victims of the Manchester Arena bomb before our final stop - Manchester’s Victoria Station.
