Johnsmas: Choral Eucharist and Buffet Lunch with Boar's Head
St John's professional choir sings this 'Patronal' Eucharist of St John the Evangelist, Patron of St John's in the Village. Music includes the serene Missa Brevis by Palestrina (whose 500th anniversary of birth falls this year) and the mystical Vidit Jesus Ioannem commissioned by St John's from Crys Armbrust.
The Eucharist is followed by a buffet lunch (cold meats and salads) in Revelation Gallery. The Boar's Head (roasted head of a young pig) is processed and the Boar's Head Carol is sung. Christmas pudding rounds of the feast of Johnsmas!
