Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish take the main stage to close out the festival with a bang! And this is a night you won't want to miss. It's a whirlwind of rhythm and sound, vibrant energy, and undeniable fun!
Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish have been playing locally, regionally and globally for over 20 years. With a Blues and Roots sound, the variety of the grooves in the music allow for a wide spectrum of venues. They say "We're as comfortable and experienced in a corporate or function setting as we are on a back porch or in the middle of a field. We get the audience dancing and having a good time, but we know how to tone it down to a foot tapping atmosphere. We have played for the President, we have played on three continents, and what comes across is the tight sound of four guys that have been making good music together for a long time."
About the band:
Johnny Hoy juggles a full life where he takes advantage of his many skills including stone masonry, fishing, antique dealing, farming. Somehow he manages to do all the gigs as well. He came to the Island in 1978, after soaking up Muddy Waters and Tom Waits shows as a teenager.
Jeremy Berlin, the piano player, has been with the band for most of its life - since the summer of '93. Hes played duets with President Clinton, and Carly Simon, toured the world with The Nina Simone band - hes not afraid of anything, and he plays it all. The band started out as a four- piece with no piano, became a five-piece for several years, and then returned to a four-piece configuration, this time with no bass, and it's been that way for 27 years.
Guitarist Delanie Pickering showed up on the Island in 2017 from New Hampshire. She didnt tell anyone she played music, and quietly checked out the scene until she was ready. Then it was all over: everyone wants her, and The Bluefish have her! Audiences love her, and her energy has given a new life to the band. And she sings!
Drummer Cameron Igo is all of 19 years old with the youthful vibe and energy that comes with that! We found him at good moment, his parents were long-time fans, and he raps from behind the kit!
The band takes the stage at 7:30pm
