John Schott’s Actual Trio has been a Back Room regular since the early days. They will record their third CD the week after this return engagement. As usual, listeners can expect Schott’s edgy, groovy compositions written for the group, and in effect written ABOUT the group: acoustic bassist Dan Seamans, and drummer John Hanes, veteran Bay Area musicians with long histories, deep experiences and stories to tell.
Schott’s guitar, clean, loud, jangly, rooted in the American vernacular idioms, but equally informed by European classical music and the avant-garde. Their repertoire includes, in addition to seventy originals, songs from Louis Armstrong, The Beatles, Otis Rush and Thelonious Monk.
Tickets are $20 general admission. Children under 12 are free. Advance tickets are available here, or if the show is not sold out, you may purchase your tickets at the door the night of the show.
Doors open one half hour before show time. We accept cash or Venmo only at the door.
