John emigrated to the USA in 1992. Shortly after emigrating to the USA he was invited to Robert Wagners’ ranch just outside LA to watch a man called Ray Hunt work with horses. John spent 4 days entranced by this mans philosophy and work. However Ray would continually give credit to a man called Tom Dorrance: “If I’m doing anything good with a horse, I got that from Tom.” said Ray.
John had to find Tom Dorrance and the rest as they say is history. John became an avid student and friend to Tom. Together they created his first training video ‘Greetings from Tom Dorrance’, which was a great success and lead to several other training videos including ‘Feel, Timing & Balance’ and a biographical video called ‘Visits with Tom’.
John is a recognized Equine Behavior Consultant and a Practitioner Member of the International Society for Equitation Science. He was the USA National Champion Doma Vaquera 2004/2005/2006.
John spends his time teaching Equitation Science and helping beginners learn how to ride and more advanced riders how to improve their skills. His Home Ranch is in Southern California and he also travels throughout the country giving lectures and clinics on equitation.
