See John Nemeth LIVE in concert at Safety Harbor Art & Music Center!
As a teenager in the early ’90s growing up in Idaho, John Németh was immersed in hip hop and rock until a friend introduced him to the blues classic Hoodoo Man Blues, inspiring him to form Fat John & the 3 Slims, a legendary Boise band. He soon gained recognition performing with local groups, opening for national acts, and releasing his first recordings, The Jack of Harps (2002) and Come and Get It (2004), before relocating to San Francisco, where he joined Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets and absorbed the Bay Area’s soul and funk sound. His national debut Magic Touch (2007) on Blind Pig Records earned critical acclaim, followed by albums Love Me Tonight (2009) and Name the Day (2010), both Billboard hits that launched a string of Blues Music Award nominations and Blues Blast wins. After two live albums in 2012, Németh moved to Memphis, collaborating with producer Scott Bomar and the Bo-Keys on Memphis Grease (2014), which won BMAs for Best Soul Blues Male Artist and Album. He pushed stylistic boundaries with Feelin’ Freaky (2017), joined The Love Light Orchestra the same year, and in 2019 recorded Stronger Than Strong with his road band The Blue Dreamers, continuing to blend blues, soul, and modern influences into a sound both timeless and fresh.
