An award winning violinist turned self-taught guitarist. John McLaren's style of guitar playing is very unique due to the percussive elements and altered tunings.
Everything that you hear is played on one acoustic guitar with no loops, tracks or other instruments.
His violin style being a mix of Cape Breton fiddle and classical.
With tens of thousands of views online, hundreds of captivating live performances Across North America and an ever growing catalogue of recorded instrumental music. John continues to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with in the instrumental genre.
His second album "John McLaren Part II" was released in November of 2024 and already has received great responses from audiences around the globe and not to mention talk show hosts such as Atlantic Axess featuring the full album on CFTA 107.9 FM in February of 2025.
Two time grammy nominated jazz guitarist Raul Midon, is one of the many professional players who praised John's guitar playing by saying it was "Awesome!" and "Cool!".
A third album is currently in the works so stay tuned to see what tricks John McLaren has up his sleeve next!
