Singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist John Hegner returns to the Opera House stage for a heartfelt evening of music and storytelling in Peace Is Alive.Known for his powerful songwriting, musical sensitivity, and collaborative spirit, Hegner has spent his life weaving melody and meaning together. His career has taken him from studies at Eastman and Berklee to two decades as a commercial composer in Boston and New York, and now to the quiet inspiration of his Starbell Hatchery Recording Studio in Harvard, IL.
This concert offers a retrospective look at John’s original catalog, blending familiar favorites with new compositions. Hegner’s music takes flight with lush arrangements backed by an ensemble of accomplished musicians, Gil Cadrecha, Bill Denk, Roger Reupert, Jim Seidel, and Cheryl Wilson,
