About this Event
Fish and Ships includes the making of a paper fish, inspired by the French tradition of Poisson d'Avril and the April fools' day fashioning of fish to stick on the backs of the unsuspecting. Includes the writing of celebrations and possibly the drawing of biscuits. Sharing and showing is invited but listening is quite sufficient. No poetic experience necessary, though helpful to have drawn as a child.
Suggested lower age 16, no upper limit. Event will last around 90 minutes.
About:
John Hegley has been running workshops for some decades in schools, prisons, tents in fields - and libraries. He has produced a dozen books of verse and prose pieces, two CDs and one mug. An Edinburgh Festival regular, he is noted for his exploration of such diverse topics as Keats, potatoes, handkerchiefs and the encouragement of a sense of self-worth. He is an occasional DJ, dancer and workshop leader, using drawing, poetry, music, gesture and dog hair.
