Artist John Graham will discuss aspects of the ‘Monochrome’ in relation to the ongoing exhibition and to the wider, art-historical context.About this Event
In the final week of Graphic Studio Gallery's exhibition Monochromatic, participating artist John Graham will discuss aspects of the ‘Monochrome’ in relation to the show itself and to wider, art-historical contexts.
In the development of art in the 20th century, the ‘Monochrome’ has been tied to a search for absolutes – on the one hand, a drive towards expansiveness and intangibility, and on the other, a more material, concrete reality. Through an engagement with printmaking, the exhibition ‘Monochromatic’ touches and overlaps with many of these wider concerns.
The talk will commence at 1pm sharp and finish up before 2pm.
Monochromatic is an exhibition of abstract monochromatic work at Graphic Studio Gallery, by 25 artists selected from members of Print Network Ireland which comprises Ireland’s largest four print studios – Graphic Studio Dublin, Black Church Print Studio, Cork Printmakers and Limerick Printmakers.
Monochromatic is co-curated by
Catherine Daunt, Curator of modern and contemporary Graphic Art, British Museum
& Peter Brennan, Gallery Director Graphic Studio Gallery.
