About this Event
DownTown PUBlic is honored to have local musician John "Crutch" Crutchfield. Crutch is one of our favorite patrons who passes by almost daily. He moved to Murrieta in February 2019 and has quickly become a favorite in the Temecula Valley music scene. Though new to the area, he’s a seasoned performer. Born in Long Beach, California, Crutch fell in love with music at age 10 after discovering the Beatles. By 13, he was playing guitar and singing, and in high school, he performed at local events with his sister.
During college, Crutch attended hundreds of rock concerts while working for a ticket broker. After a career as a litigation attorney, he turned to teaching to spend more time with his son and reignited his passion for performing in the late '90s.
Crutch performs solo, with partners, and in bands like "Crutch & Company" and "Special Guest," focusing on classic rock from the '60s and '70s. Influenced by David Bowie, The Beatles, Neil Young, and others, his shows are both entertaining and educational.
Since moving to Murrieta, Crutch has become a regular at local venues, debuting at Lorimar Loft. He performs with various groups, including "Barefoot Boyz," "Chico & The Man," and "Crutch & Mo" with Bastos "Mo" Moenho.
Crutch helped establish Open Mic Mondays at Mad Mike's Sausage and regularly performs at the Murrieta Street Fair and local care centers. He supports the Murrieta Arts Council’s bi-weekly Open Mic event.
Look for Crutch performing at venues and wineries across Temecula, often alongside top percussionist Moenho. Expect to see him on stage for years to come!
