ABOUT JOE
Joseph Muhl, born in Akron, Ohio, began his musical studies on piano at the age of seven and started playing French horn at twelve. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati, where he studied with Denise Tryon, Elizabeth Freimuth, and Dr. Margaret Tung. He has also worked with Stephanie Blaha and is currently pursuing a master’s degree here at Lynn, in the studio of Gregory Miller.
Joseph is the first prize winner of the Howell Memorial Undergraduate Horn Scholarship and has participated in masterclasses with Leelanee Sterret, Karl Pituch, and Jeff Scott. A versatile musician, Joseph has a background in musical theater and jazz that allows him to play in a variety of ensembles and use his voice as well as his horn to express himself musically. As a teacher, he enjoys giving private lessons and coaching horn sections for high school marching bands. Outside of music, Joseph enjoys playing soccer, practicing yoga, and spending time in the sun with family and friends.
