Musician and storyteller Joe Kye returns to the Walters’ stage, taking listeners on a transcendent personal journey, recollecting lineage and love through multiple generations of his family. Looping violin, vocals, and traditional Korean instruments, his music swirls with spoken word and deep ancestral connection, unraveling our inner cocoons with awareness and self-compassion.Featuring the story of his grandfather's bold escape from North Korea during the Korean War and connecting it to Joe’s life as a child immigrant, this show is both emotionally impactful and spiritually resonant as it inspires hope, joy, and compassion in all ages.
Joe will be joined on stage by guitarist Mike Gamble and visual artist Theresa Bear. Mike Gamble is an adventurous guitarist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose work is informed by extended performance technique, improvisation, and new technology.
Theresa Bear is a queer, neurodiverse artist who finds magic through her lens and in collaboration with the Earth. She believes that art and nature should be accessible to all and that within each of us lies a creative force waiting to be expressed.
Tickets are $20 advance / $23 day of show.
