Joe and Noa: Jazz Duo
Advertisement
This charming duo is a collaboration between jazz pianist Joe Micarelli and his daughter Noa, a fresh-voiced singer whose feel for the Great American Songbook goes well beyond their years. Maybe that’s because they got an early start as a nine-year-old, dropping into Joe’s jazz gigs to perform Ella Fitzgerald favorites like “I’m Beginning to See the Light” and “Straighten Up and Fly Right.”
Noa went on to study theater in college and is an accomplished songwriter. Joe has been playing in the Boston area for decades, first as a founding member of a blues/R&B band that packed nightclubs in the 80s and 90s. He formed the Joe Micarelli Jazz Trio in the mid-90s and began a rewarding career as a piano teacher and singing coach. Joe and Noa’s shows bring a new perspective to classic tunes, both in their performance and in the fascinating “behind the song” stories they share.
