JoburgPlaces Storytelling Dinners are hosted at the Thunder Walker. Guests are seated at socially distanced tables in the naturally-ventilated Thunder Walker Arcade with its four-storey-high ceilings.
Upon arrival, guests have the chance to enjoy drinks in the Zwipi Underground before sitting down for the storytelling dinner in the Thunder Walker Arcade. Guests enjoy an unforgettable evening of superb food and mesmerizing storytelling.
Storytelling is presented by Charlie Moyo while the food is prepared by the excellent Thunder Walker culinary team. Themes alternate between the Migrant Cuisine Storytelling Dinner and the 7-Phases of Joburg Storytelling Dinner.
The Migrant Cuisine Storytelling Dinner involves the history and stories of the migrant communities of our city and their foods. It is a casual eating experience with six migrant-inspired dishes, appealing to the adventurous foodie.
The 7-Phases of Joburg Storytelling Dinner involves a more formal, three-course dinner with exceptional Global-Afro fusion cuisine and storytelling focusing on the history and future development of Johannesburg.
Storytelling dinners are open for bookings at R695 per person.
While storytelling dinners are hosted for public bookings on Friday and Saturday nights, we are available for private group bookings throughout the week. A minimum spend of R12 500 is required to open the restaurant for a private booking. Email [email protected] to enquire about a private booking.
