About this Event
Join JMacForFamilies for our First Annual Fundraiser, along with our keynote speakers: Dorothy Roberts, author of Torn Apart: How the Child Welfare System Destroys Black Families - And How Abolition Can Build A Safer World; and Ms. Paula Bryant, a parent impacted by the Family Regulation System.
Our goal is to raise $150,000 as we officially launch our H.E.A.L. program (Heal, Empower, Advocate, Lead) for families impacted by the Family Regulation System.
With your support, we can:
- Facilitate the Healing of trauma after surviving the Family Regulation System through parent support groups led by clinical MSW students.
- Empower parents and families through education on: their rights, understanding the tiers of government, how to create change, and the racialized history of the Family Regulation System.
- Provide opportunities for compensated parent Advocacy through lobbying days in Albany, meetings with elected officials, speaking engagements at social work schools, and for utilizing personal stories to change the narrative.
- Lead the push for change, drawing on our education, advocacy skills, and lived experiences.
JMacForFamilies is a partner project of the Fund for the City of New York.
