You have to get the weight of the town you come from. You have to write with guts about the potholes you walk round and the manholes you step upon, the screams and cries that you encounter, the guff that aims to nail you and the bits of light amongst the drab white concrete. Jinx Lennon does this and more for Dundalk and the borderlands; You've never heard as many songs about the lost souls and mangled heads from Dealgan Blayney, Forkhill,Carrick, Newry, Cooley, Carlingford or godforsaken Drogheda.
Inspired by unhinged gospel preachers join Jinx through the cracked lens of punk, noise, north east borderland raps, confused taped voices and neanderthal garage rock and you will hear the stories unfold, some which are still being formed as we speak.
This year saw the release of Jinx Lennon's 13th record 'The Hate Agents Leer At The Last Isle Of Hope' for which he went on a UK and Irish tour and performed at The Electric Picnic. Now the next chapter slowly unfurls and you yourself could be part of the next upcoming tale.
WASPS vs HUMANS
An anarchic mix of drums, bodhrán, whistles, punk poetry, songs and beats. Social commentary based, from celebrity culture to inner city violence, their latest single 'Death Chamber Visits' is a raw, hard hitting, close to the bone track, tackling the horrors of capital punishment, American style; an execution with punk guitars, thundering base, urgent vocals held back behind bars, this is punk folk rock, Wasps' style and it takes no prisoners.
Initially a solo project, WvHs punk poet/drummer, Carl Antony Plover has opened for the likes of John Cooper Clarke, Whipping boy, and a daring opening set for Mark E Smith's The Fall. Having partnered up with musician wife Linda Plover, WvHs have honed a distinctive punk/folk sound over the last eighteen months.
