9:00-9:15 – Sign-in (doors open at 9)

9:15-11:15 – "Bringing Holiday Nostalgia to Life: Using Classic TV Shows and Characters in Senior Activities" Mary Harrison will guide participants through the emotional power of holiday nostalgia and its positive impact on seniors. Learn how to use beloved holiday shows and characters to create engaging activities, including for memory care residents, while exploring the therapeutic benefits of reminiscence and sensory engagement. 2 Hours

11:15-11:30 – Break

11:30-12:30 – "Wellness Through the Senses" Lynn Hermensky presents on the importance of engaging the five senses in senior care. Participants will learn how sensory experiences can reduce stress and enhance well-being, with practical tips for implementing sensory-focused activities in senior living communities. 1 hour

12:30-12:45 – Break

12:45-1:45 – Lunch and Keynote: "Finding Joy in the Journey – The Science of Happiness"

Rev. Jill A. Smith will explore how specific habits like gratitude, optimism, and coping strategies can scientifically boost happiness. Attendees will identify which habits they currently practice and gain insights into promoting happiness among residents and co-workers. 1 hour

1:45-2:00 – Break

2:00-4:00 – "Creativity Across the Lifespan: Enhancing Senior Well-being and Wellness Through Creative Arts" Mary Harrison leads this hands-on session exploring the role of creativity in enhancing seniors' cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. Participants will learn to design creative programs, incorporating practical activities to engage seniors in various settings and foster meaningful connections. 2 hour

Stewart’s Caring Place is a Free Resource Center for families with cancer. We will be collecting non-perishable items at this event for their free food pantry if you would like to participate.
