James J. Millross (aka Jimbo Easter) was born in Detroit and raised in Brightmoor. He began making art and performing at an early age. Fronting punk bands and touring nationally in the 1990s earned Jimbo a national cult following. As a musician and an artist, Jimbo uses a private mythology, developing a physical language to create an extremely visceral, raw, and emotional body of work. His work has been presented in local and national galleries.Jimbo Easter (b. 1975) pure outlaw of the new wave American avant-garde is a multidisciplinary performance artist, painter, sculptor, film maker, illustrator, and musician. He is a recent recipient of the Kresge Fellowship (2016). Jimbo has shown at multiple galleries including Coaxial Arts Foundation in Los Angeles and most recently, a spotlight on his work at The Pensacola Museum of Art in addition to being an artist in residence at the Mike Kelley Homestead in Detroit.
Erik Maluchnik formerly of the Detroit band Holy Fire and a top-notch sound artist also performs on this evening. You may know Erik for his recording and production work at Tempermill Studios.
