Dunaway Books, an independent book store on South Grand, caries a fantastic selection of fine used, out-of-print, and rare volumes. Join MaTovu for a tour of their incredibly extensive collection of Jewish books! Dunaway Books was purchased by Claudia Brodie and Kevin Twellman in 2017. Among the many beautiful titles that came with the long history of Dunaway Books in St. Louis, Claudia and Kevin brought their own personal collection of books, which included a modest Judaica collection. It was only shortly after the purchase that a series of very fortunate events brought them to two collections from Claudia’s home state of New Jersey. Claudia’s sister helps run a pre-school program at B’Nai Jeshurun near Newark. The temple’s executive director was married to a former Manhattan bookseller who specialized in Judaica with many scholarly titles. After a series of visits, conversations, small and large purchases, the bookseller decided to retire and Dunaway purchased the whole store…10,000 books!
