About this Event
Contemporary jewelry has often spoken to itself, featured mostly in jewelry-exclusive exhibitions that keep the field siloed compared to contemporary clay, glass, and other mediums. As the lines between “craft,” “design,” and “art” blur, jewelry and metals merit playing well with others to generate new conversations about the work in the wider scheme of contemporary culture. This panel explores the potential of bringing jewelry into different, multidisciplinary spaces, with Objects: USA 2024, on view at R & Company, as an active example.
Join Objects: USA 2024 artists Georgina Treviño, Mallory Weston, Sulo Bee, MJ Tyson, Myra Mimlitsch-Gray, steven KP, and Barbara Paris Gifford, Senior Curator at the Museum of Arts and Design, for this discussion led by Objects: USA 2024 co-curator Kellie Riggs.
Each November, NYC Jewelry Week proudly presents ‘The Week,’ a 7-day celebration dedicated to the art of jewelry. This annual event invites a global audience to explore the world of jewelry through a dynamic mix of in-person and virtual experiences, spanning New York City and beyond.
