SECOND TUESDAY TALKS, NEW TIME 3-4PMVictoria Carpenter uses the traditional Japanese art of Kumihimo to design her one-of-a-kind jewelry. Kumi means coming together and himo is any length of string, cord, rope, or braid. The art dates back to the Edo Period of the Samurai warrior where braids were used on their uniforms to provide warmth and protection. Now, contemporary artisans use the technique for jewelry. Join us as Victoria demonstrates this ancient technique and showcases her designs.
