COMPAS teaching artist Amy Wilderson will teach wirework jewelry classes on Saturdays starting September 21 through November 23 from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm at the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery (MAAHMG). The workshops are free and materials provided. To register, contact Amy at: [email protected].
The classes, "Reviving Forgotten Treasures, Reviving Memories," will teach participants wirework to create new pieces out of their old jewelry. During the classes, students will also share memories about their old jewelry and the new jewelry they create during class. At the end of the course, participants will have a show to share their new pieces create during the workshop.
Amy is a teaching artist with COMPAS who is placed with the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery through COMPAS teaching residency program. This work is funded in part by the Minnesota Humanities Center (MHC) with funds from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund through the Minnesota State Legislature.
