Workshop Day 1 - Saturday 2.11.2024
The Rotational Component of the upper body in Pilates
In everyday activities there is often too little rotation and clients experience stiffness, tension and reduced mobility in the upper body. In this workshop we will explore the rotational possibilities of the upper torso, as well as the relationship of the head, neck and eyes and how they affect the movements of the whole spine.
Adding more rotational movements to your class will give clients a great sense of wellbeing, better kineasthetic awareness and improve sports activities like golf and tennis.
You will gain tools to address these issues through simple seated exercises to more advanced work on the Pilates equipment. We will add valuable hands-on cues to give the optimal assistance for your clients.
For Mat and/or Comprehensive Pilates instructors
Workshop benefits:
Gain knowledge of how to add and improve rotation in the Pilates repetoire on the mat and equipment. Understand the mechanics of spinal rotation. Get to know tactile cues and hands on to assist rotational movements.

Workshop Day 2 - Sunday 3.11.2024
Functional Knee joint in everyday living
The knee joint needs to be both stable and mobile. At the same it time it is also reliant on foot, pelvic and spinal alignment. Postural problems, lack of strength and /or muscle imbalance patterns, can pose both acute or chronic knee problems and arthritis, which can result in knee surgery or arthroplasty. We will look at how to help your clients prevent knee problems, addressing common underlying misalignment problems, as well as post-surgery rehabilitation.
We will move through 3 progressive stages of exercise protocols to help you plan for your clients progression:
Progression 1:
Remedial exercises for muscle imbalance and post injury or surgery
Progression 2:
Increasing strength and restoring alignment
Progression 3:
Relating to everyday activities and free standing functional exercises
This will be a functional movement workshop using mat and Pilates studio apparatus as well as dynamic weightbearing functional exercises, that help the knee joint to cope with everyday challenges of stairs, walking, squatting and running.
