About this Event
The author of The Visitors comes to Foyles to discuss her first collection of short fiction, Ghost Pains, confirming her status as a pre-eminent documenter of techno-millenarian unease.
With each glittering, curveball story exemplifying Stevens’s ability to confront existential questions on contemporary life through the microscope of a shambolic human perspective, Ghost Pains is a triumphant statement of purpose from one of our greatest young writers.
Jessi Jezewska Stevens is the author of The Visitors and The Exhibition of Persephone Q. Her stories and essays have appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation, The New York Times, Foreign Policy, The Paris Review, Tin House, and elsewhere. She lives in New York and Geneva.
Stevens will be in conversation with Daisy Hildyard. Her first novel, Hunters in the Snow, received the Somerset Maugham Award. Emergency, her latest novel, was published by Fitzcarraldo Editions in 2022. She lives with her family in North Yorkshire, where she was born.
The event will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Doors open from 6:45pm.
