As an art museum director Wright used his artistic talents in the display of art in a series of acclaimed exhibitions. After coming to Jacksonville University in 1996 as Dean of Fine Arts and later as Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Wright gradually resumed his career as an artist. When former Fine Arts Dean Terry Netter and Wright shared a studio in Springfield, his career as an artist began anew.
